Sabrina D. Monroe, owner of Popistry, LLC aka Popistry By Sabrina, a home-based Sweets Boutique in Maryland, is wife of an amazing and supportive husband Donnell, and mother of four also creatively talented children Nikea, Donnell Jr., Jakiah, and Gavin; and native Washingtonian. At the tender age of eight, she would be at the hip of her grandmother Annie M. Flegler, as she baked for family and friends an array of mouth-watering delights all from scratch. This was her introduction and fuel to her love for baking. She would watch her Grandma's every move, assist, and of course nibble on all the extras. When Sabrina became old enough to manage the oven on her own, her Grandma would let her start the baking frenzy. On nights when she got bored, Sabrina would crack open one of Grandma's many cookbook and get to baking. Her favorite was peanut butter cookies, because they always had the ingredients for those.
Fast forward years later, Sabrina would whip up batches of cookies, brownies, etc, for friends and family just like Grandma did. And one day it hit her, this is a part of what she loved and a part of her Grandmother. It helped her keep her Grandmother's memory alive and she wanted to start doing more fun stuff. Days later in the local wholesale club, Sabrina stumbled on Bakerella's first cake pop book and was sold. In February 2010 Popistry was born, at that point it was just a hobby, then the requests started pouring in.
Today, Sabrina’s passion for baking has grown and developed into more than she could have ever imagined. From creating bite sized treats, now cakes and vegan confections, to helping others tap into their God-given abilities through classes and/or encouragement, Sabrina couldn't be more blessed by this sweet life. She can be herself, pour out her creativity, and share her love of edible art to the many beautiful people she’s been blessed to come in contact with in the sweets community.
Popistry brings life to sweet treats in character and flavor, we also believe in healthier options by offering vegan and gluten-free products; it's part Art and part Ministry, as it's an innate ability fueled by Sabrina’s Grandmother, but given to her by God.
